The first Cumilla Film Festival 2026, organised by Dhaka Film Club, has been rescheduled and will now take place on 24 and 25 September, nearly a month after its originally planned dates.
The two-day festival was initially scheduled for 28 and 29 August at K-Screen Cineplex in Cumilla.
According to a statement from the organisers, the festival will now be held at the Cumilla District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.
The festival will feature screenings of seven feature-length films, four short films and one documentary.
The programme will also include a seminar on cinema, while distinguished filmmakers, artists, industry professionals and journalists will be honoured for their contributions to the country’s film sector.
Dhaka Film Club General Secretary Barua Monojit Dhiman said the festival aims to create a space for film lovers in Cumilla to find inspiration and exchange ideas.
“It will be an open and creative festival for everyone,” he said.
The organisers said Cumilla City Corporation, Bangladesh Film Welfare Society, Bangladesh Film Society, Cumilla Film Society, Cox’s Bazar Film Club and Bengal Film Society will provide overall support for the festival.
With film screenings, discussions and recognition of industry figures, the organisers hope the inaugural festival will contribute to strengthening the local film culture in Cumilla.
