Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) has launched a fully online payment system for revenue collection, aiming to modernise port management and boost trade efficiency. The new platform allows users to pay port-related fees, charges, bills, and other revenue digitally from any location, removing manual paperwork and queues, CPA said.

According to a press release signed by CPA Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim on 21 May, the system supports RTGS, NPSB, BEFTN, internet banking, card payments, and mobile financial services including bKash and Rocket. Officials said real-time monitoring will improve transparency, accountability, and accuracy in revenue collection, accounting, and reporting.

Industry stakeholders expect the system to reduce administrative costs, minimise human error and corruption, and accelerate cargo clearance and vessel handling. Faster payments are expected to lower vessel turnaround times, ease the burden on importers, exporters, C&F agents, and shipping operators, and strengthen Bangladesh’s competitiveness in global trade and logistics.

CPA emphasised that the platform operates 24/7, ensuring secure transactions for domestic and international users in line with global standards. Officials said it will improve coordination between port users and business stakeholders, further enhancing the efficiency of the country’s import-export processes.

The authority expressed optimism that the technology-driven initiative would transform Chattogram Port into a more efficient, internationally competitive maritime gateway, enabling smoother, faster, and more effective trade operations.
