The Chattogram Port Authority has invited international tenders to appoint berth operators at six jetties of the General Cargo Berth (GCB) terminal, seeking to boost operational efficiency and speed up cargo unloading.
The Port Authority’s Transport Department issued the notification on Monday, 2 March, confirming that selected operators will be appointed for five years from the date of commencement.
According to the tender notice, operators will handle general non-containerised cargo at Jetties 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 of the GCB terminal.
The appointed firms will manage cargo handling operations at the designated jetties for five years, under terms outlined in the tender documents.
Interested companies may collect tender documents until 31 March.
The submission deadline is 1 April at 12:00 noon, and tenders will be opened at 12:30 pm the same day.
A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for 15 March at the boardroom of the port building.
The price of the tender document has been fixed at Tk 50,000 for each lot.
Bidders must submit a security deposit of Tk 50 lakh for each of the six jetties, identified as Lots 1 to 6.
The project will be financed from the Port Authority’s own funds.
Director Traffic Enamul Karim invited the tender.
Detailed information and forms are available from the Traffic Department at the port building and the office of the Chief Finance and Accounting Officer.
Secretary and spokesperson Syed Refayet Hamim confirmed the issuance of the international tender.
The Port Authority said that if the tender cannot be sold, submitted or opened on the scheduled date due to unavoidable circumstances, the process will be completed on the next working day.
It also reserved the right to accept or reject any tender without assigning reasons.
The GCB terminal is one of four terminals at Chattogram Port and comprises 12 jetties in total, six for container handling and six for general cargo operations.
At present, all 12 jetties are operated by 12 domestic berth operator companies.
