A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of income tax records of six individuals, including former Mymensingh MP Kazim Uddin Ahmed, former Chapainawabganj-3 MP Md Abdul Wadud, and Managing Director of Bangla TV Syed Samadul Haque.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Wednesday, following six separate applications filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Court assistant Riaz Hossain confirmed the development.
The other three individuals include former councilor of Dhaka North City Corporation Abul Hashem (Hasu), his wife Parvin Akter, and former MP Abdul Wadud’s wife, Mosa Marzina Wadud.
The ACC, represented by Deputy Assistant Director Md Abu Talha, requested the seizure, alleging that the accused had acquired assets inconsistent with their known income and carried out large, suspicious transactions in multiple banks.
The applications cite violations of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2004, the Money Laundering Prevention Act 2012, and relevant sections of the Penal Code. The seizure of tax records and related documents is intended to facilitate a thorough investigation into the discrepancies between the accused’s declared income and actual assets.
