A Dhaka court has rescheduled to 8 April the date for publishing a gazette directing Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, a British lawmaker and niece of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and Sardar Mosharraf Hossain, former assistant legal adviser of Rajuk, to appear in connection with a corruption case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz set the new date after a hearing on Sunday.
The case was filed on 15 April last year by ACC Assistant Director Monirul Islam. The allegations state that the accused, through mutual collusion and abuse of power, illegally registered a flat in Gulshan-2 from Eastern Housing Limited without making any payment.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Assistant Director Aminul Islam said the court had earlier, on 8 March, ordered the Bangladesh Government Press (BG Press) to publish the gazette requiring the accused to appear.
However, due to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays, the gazette could not be published on time, prompting the court to set 8 April as the new date.
