A Dhaka court on Monday ordered the seizure of tax records belonging to Nadira Mahmud, wife of former industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order following an application from the Anti‑Corruption Commission (ACC), said court bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain.
The ACC argued in its petition that seizing the original records — covering from the inception of the tax files up to the 2024‑2025 assessment year — was essential for investigation.
The court granted the request to confiscate all relevant documents, including permanent and miscellaneous sections.
According to case documents, Nurul Majid is accused of abusing official power to acquire and possess assets worth Tk7.94 crore beyond his known sources of income.
He is alleged to have conducted suspicious transactions totaling Tk102.02 crore through 13 bank accounts held in his name and his business organisations.
The ACC further alleges that Nadira used her husband’s position to amass illegal assets worth Tk1.34 crore, which she currently holds.
