Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has confirmed that a committee will soon be formed to draft constitutional amendments with participation from all sides.
He made the remarks following the third meeting of the parliamentary committee on Wednesday.
“The committee will be formed very soon, though the exact number of members is yet to be finalised.
Legal experts from both the ruling and opposition parties will be included,” Moni said, stressing the importance of broad participation.
He added, “We want to make the parliament more effective. Everything we do requires constitutional support. We expect the opposition to join the constitutional amendment committee.”
Moni emphasised that the government is committed to all necessary steps for constitutional reform in the country’s interest.
“For the welfare of the nation, we aim to take all required measures for amendments, and we seek the cooperation of the opposition,” he said.
