Actor Chris Kattan is returning to the horror genre for the first time in more than two decades after joining the cast of the independent feature Trash Queen.
According to Deadline, the Saturday Night Live alum will star in the upcoming female-led horror comedy, marking his first horror role since appearing in the 1999 cult film House on Haunted Hill.
Kattan joins a cast that includes Matty Cardarople, Lynn Lowry, Jonathan Stoddard, Kevin Keppy, Emily Tullock and Bonne-Vejou Dorrell. Details about his character and the film’s storyline remain under wraps.
Gabrielle Rosson will direct the project from a screenplay she co-wrote with Emily Tullock. The production will rely on practical effects and is scheduled to begin filming in October. Joan of Art LLC and Trash Queen LLC are producing the film.
Speaking about the project, Kattan said he was excited to return to horror, noting that House on Haunted Hill remained a special film in his career. He added that horror fans had always shown strong support and described Trash Queen as having a fun and twisted energy that immediately appealed to him. He also said he looked forward to audiences seeing what the team had created.
Kattan rose to prominence as a cast member on Saturday Night Live between 1996 and 2003, where he created memorable characters including Mr Peepers and Mango. He later starred in films such as A Night at the Roxbury, Corky Romano and Monkeybone.
His other screen credits include In Other Words, Hotel Transylvania 2, Undercover Brother and The Ridiculous 6.
