The trailer of Chorki original film Cha Gorom was released on Thursday (April 9). From the trailer, it is evident that the central character of the story is Irene, a doctor portrayed by Safa Kabir.
She travels to tea gardens to provide medical care to the workers there. From the beginning, she is accompanied by the character Robin, played by Rezwan Pervez.
As the story progresses, more characters join in, including Nandini (Sarah Jabin Aditi) and Mithu (Partho Sheikh). However, why and how their journeys intertwine will be revealed in the full film. Dialogues and visuals in the trailer clearly highlight the deprivation, dreams, and struggles of marginalized communities.
The film is set to release on Chorki at 12:00 AM on April 13, marking Pahela Baishakh. Written by Saifullah Riyad and directed by Shankha Dasgupta, the film attempts to present tea gardens not merely as a backdrop, but as a living space full of diversity and real-life experiences. The team conducted extensive research in the tea gardens of Kulaura for this purpose.
Actress Safa Kabir said the film tells the story of marginalized people whose struggles often go unseen. According to her, it carries a message of equality, empathy, and collective progress.
Speaking about her character Nandini, Sarah Jabin Aditi described it as a journey of self-discovery for an ordinary young woman, where her strength and potential unfold.
Rezwan Pervez, referring to his character Robin, said it represents tea workers—people with modest needs but deep emotional richness and simplicity. Meanwhile, Partho Sheikh, who plays Mithu, believes the philosophy of the story is like a tea plant—achieving something often requires giving up many things.
The film also features A K Azad Setu. It is produced with support from Oxfam and the European Union, with Robi as a partner.
