Bangladesh’s women’s volleyball team stepped into the spotlight on Saturday morning as the Bangladesh Volleyball Federation staged a reception at Shaheed Noor Hossain National Volleyball Stadium in Paltan. The ceremony celebrated the side’s bronze medal at the CAVA Cup for Women 2025 in Male, the finest international result in the nation’s women’s volleyball history.
That bronze, clinched during the tournament held from 20–25 December in the Maldives, sparked genuine pride inside Bangladesh’s volleyball circles. The federation quickly moved to mark the achievement with a formal gathering in Dhaka.
Federation president Faruque Hassan chaired the ceremony and praised the team for breaking new ground. Officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports joined the occasion, including secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam and additional secretary Selim Fakir, signalling rare government attention for volleyball’s rise.
Players and coaching staff soaked up the applause while journalists crowded the venue. The federation then handed each squad member a commemorative crest, a symbolic reward for a campaign that lifted Bangladesh volleyball onto a new rung.
The bronze medal now sets a benchmark rather than a finish line. Bangladesh’s women already cracked the regional podium once; the next CAVA Cup will test whether that spike across the net sparked a one-off moment or the start of a habit.
