Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has discussed ways to improve support for small, cottage and micro entrepreneurs through better training, stronger lending systems and improved institutional capacity.
The discussion took place between BSCIC Chairman Md Saiful Islam and development expert and consultant Ali Sabed on small and medium enterprise development, banking support, policy issues and institutional efficiency.
BSCIC directors, general managers and senior officials attended the meeting.
Ali Sabed highlighted the role of small and micro enterprises in employment generation and economic development while appreciating BSCIC’s contribution to skills development and financing support for entrepreneurs.
He recommended improving the quality of BSCIC’s training programmes, strengthening loan distribution, preparing a comprehensive database of entrepreneurs, expanding employment opportunities and ensuring easier and more effective financing facilities for small businesses.
The meeting also discussed strengthening BSCIC’s institutional capacity, expanding entrepreneur-friendly services and improving coordination for the sustainable development of the small and cottage industries sector.
