BRAC Bank is providing Tk2 crore in emergency assistance to support 4,500 families affected by recent flash floods in southeastern Bangladesh, extending food and cash support to more than 22,000 people.
The bank, in partnership with BRAC’s Emergency Response Team, is providing essential supplies to flood-hit communities in Khagrachhari, Bandarban, Rangamati, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar, where thousands have been affected by severe monsoon flooding caused by continuous rainfall and upstream river discharge.
Each affected family will receive BRAC’s seven-day food package containing essential items worth Tk3,500, along with Tk1,000 in cash assistance to help meet immediate needs during the post-disaster period.
“Standing beside communities in times of crisis is integral to BRAC Bank’s purpose,” Tareq Refat Ullah Khan, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, said in a statement.
“Through our partnership with BRAC’s Emergency Response Team, we are extending timely support to thousands of flood-affected families, helping them meet immediate needs and begin the journey towards recovery. We remain committed to supporting the people of Bangladesh whenever they need us most,” he added.
BRAC Bank said the initiative reflects its continued efforts to respond to humanitarian emergencies and support vulnerable communities during crises.
The bank said it remains committed to creating positive social impact and standing beside people affected by disasters across Bangladesh.
