BRAC Bank has launched Visa Multicurrency SME Business Debit and Credit Cards to allow small and medium enterprise customers to conduct authorised local and foreign currency business-to-business transactions.
The bank said in a press release that the new cards are designed to support smoother business operations by enabling eligible SME clients to access foreign exchange facilities within regulatory guidelines.
The cards were launched at a ceremony held on 21 January at the head office of BRAC Bank.
The launch event was attended by Visa Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan Sabbir Ahmed and SME Foundation Deputy Managing Director Nazeem Hassan Satter as guests of honour.
The Visa Multicurrency SME Business Debit and Credit Cards allow eligible SME customers to access foreign exchange facilities under a dedicated SME business quota, enabling foreign currency transactions of up to $3,000 annually.
The cards can be used for point-of-sale, ATM and e-commerce transactions at home and abroad, helping SMEs manage overseas payments, expand operational reach and participate more actively in global trade.
“SMEs are at the heart of Bangladesh’s economic growth, and the launch addresses a practical need by empowering them to transact globally with greater confidence, transparency and regulatory alignment,” said BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan.
He said the bank is grateful to Bangladesh Bank for providing the policy framework that made the initiative possible.
Sabbir Ahmed said digital payment solutions play a critical role in connecting SMEs with global markets and that the partnership with BRAC Bank reflects a shared commitment to secure, reliable and globally accepted payment solutions.
The initiative reinforces BRAC Bank’s focus on inclusive, regulation-compliant and technology-driven financial services, strengthening its position as a key partner in the sustainable growth and global integration of Bangladesh’s SME sector.
