BRAC Bank has crossed $1 billion in international trade transactions in a single month for the first time, strengthening its position in Bangladesh’s trade financing market amid growing export-import activity.

The bank said in a press release the milestone reflected its foreign exchange strength, expanding client base, technology investment and integrated trade service model designed to support businesses involved in global commerce.

The achievement was marked at a ceremony at the bank’s head office in Dhaka attended by BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan alongside senior officials from the wholesale banking and operations divisions.

Among those present were BRAC Bank Additional Managing Director and Head of Wholesale Banking Md Shaheen Iqbal, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking Md Asif Bin Idrish, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Operations Md Muniruzzaman Molla and Head of Transaction Banking AKM Faisal Halim.

The bank said the milestone was driven by its corporate banking strategy focused on relationship-based engagement across industries combined with a fully integrated trade service structure.

The lender also cited strong foreign exchange liquidity support, operational coordination and continued digital innovation as major contributors behind the growth in trade transactions.

“Crossing $1 billion in international trade in a single month is a clear reflection of our clients’ trust and our capability to deliver at scale,” said BRAC Bank Managing Director and CEO Tareq Refat Ullah Khan.

“Our strong foreign exchange position, disciplined execution, and client-centric approach enable us to support businesses seamlessly in their global trade journeys,” he said.

To manage its growing trade portfolio, the bank operates a dedicated Client Service Unit at its head office that serves as a single contact point for trade-related services.

The unit, supported by technology platforms and specialised personnel, provides processing support and personalised services aimed at improving efficiency and customer experience in trade transactions, the bank said.

BRAC Bank also said its Specialised Trade Development Team provides end-to-end trade products and solutions for clients to ensure smoother trade operations.
