Controversy has hit the Bangladesh Premier League once again, even before the season begins. The BPL has often been linked with controversies, and this season is no different.
According to Daily Sun, Chattogram Royals owner Kayum Rashed has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to take over the team’s operations for the rest of the BPL season. He sent a written request to the board, citing difficulties in running the franchise under the current circumstances.
Chattogram Royals had faced criticism earlier. Now, the franchise appears to be stepping away from its responsibilities.
BCB member secretary and BPL Governing Council official Iftekhar Rahman Mithu confirmed the development to Daily Sun. He said the board has received the letter and will hold discussions with the players before deciding the next steps.
An official announcement is expected after the board completes its internal consultations.
