Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with five prominent institutions to strengthen cooperation in research, education, training, and technological development within Bangladesh’s energy and mineral resources sector.
The agreement was finalized today at the BPI headquarters, according to a press release. The five institutions involved are the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Rajshahi, the Institute of Mining, Mineralogy, and Metallurgy at BCSIR, the Department of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineering (PMRE) at BUET, Bangladesh Oil, Gas & Mineral Corporation (Petrobangla), and CodersTrust Limited.
The MoU was signed by key representatives from the institutions, including Khen Chan, Director General of BPI; Professor Dr. Yunus Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Department of Geology and Mining at the University of Rajshahi; Md. Shamsul Haque, CEO of CodersTrust Limited; Abul Fatah Md. Baligur Rahman, Member of BCSIR; Dr. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman, Professor and Head of PMRE at BUET; and Md. Amzad Hossain, Secretary and Senior GM of Petrobangla.
Energy and Mineral Resources Division Secretary Mohammad Saiful Islam was the chief guest at the ceremony, with Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman Md. Amin Ul Ahsan attending as the special guest.
The collaboration aims to enhance the nation’s human resources and technical capabilities, which are essential for ensuring energy security and supporting sustainable development.
