A body of a farmer was recovered from a drain in the Palashbari upazila of Gaibandha on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Gaffar, 55, son of the late Kapil Uddin Sardar, a resident of the Bujruk Barkatpur village in the Pabnapur Union of the same upazila.
According to police and locals, Abdul Gaffar went missing on Monday. Despite family members searching for him late into the night, they were unable to locate him.
The following morning, his body was found floating in a drain near the Vhegir Bridge, around two kilometers away from his home. Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the body.
Shahadat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Harinabari Police Investigation Centre said “The naked body, found floating in the water, has been sent to the morgue of Gaibandha General Hospital. Whether it was a murder or suicide will be determined after postmortem examination. The body will be handed over to the family after completing the legal procedures.”
