Bhumi Gallery opened a group art exhibition titled “Persistence” at its Centrepoint Branch in Uttara, Dhaka, on Saturday, bringing together works by ten Bangladeshi artists across canvas, mixed media and watercolour.
The exhibition, inaugurated at 5:30pm on 20 June, features 66 artworks and will remain open to the public daily from 3pm to 9pm until 25 July, Bhumi Gallery said in a press release.
Brent T Christensen, Ambassador of the United States to Bangladesh, attended the opening ceremony as chief guest.
The special guests were internationally acclaimed artist Monirul Islam; novelist, poet, Managing Director and CEO of City Bank PLC Mashrur Arefin; and Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman and Managing Director of United Group.
Participating artists, art critics, collectors, art enthusiasts and other distinguished guests also attended the ceremony.
The participating artists in “Persistence” are Tarun Ghosh, Farida Zaman, Mohammad Eunus, Jamal Ahmed, Ahmed Samsuddoha, Rokeya Sultana, Kanak Champa Chakma, Mohammad Iqbal, Shahid Kazi and Abdullah Al Bashir.
The exhibition brings together eight established masters and two promising young artists from Bangladesh, creating what the gallery described as a dialogue between experience and innovation, and between tradition and contemporary perspectives.
Bhumi Gallery said the exhibition presents art as “the most enduring meeting point for all” and positions “Persistence” as a testament to the continuing journey of artistic expression and the enduring power of creative thought.
The show is designed to highlight the resilience of artistic practice at a time when creative expression continues to serve as a bridge across generations, disciplines and audiences.
The organisers said the exhibition seeks to present a broad view of Bangladeshi art through different mediums and artistic approaches, with works on canvas, mixed media and watercolour placed within a single curatorial frame.
The exhibition will continue at Bhumi Gallery, Centrepoint Branch, Uttara, Dhaka, until 25 July.
