Leading representatives from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) held a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday.
Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony said the meeting occurred this afternoon at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office in Bangladesh Secretariat.

During the discussions, Tarique and business leaders reviewed the current state and future potential of the nation’s ready-made garments and knitwear industries. These sectors were identified as critical engines for the national economy.
The dialogue also addressed various methods for the expansion of the country’s export trade.
The meeting was also attended by Industries Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, and Mahdi Amin, the prime minister’s adviser and PMO spokesperson. Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar was also present.
