Bengal Commercial Bank marked its fifth anniversary on Wednesday, highlighting expansion to 34 branches and continued focus on financing cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises as it strengthens operations across the country.
A programme was held at a restaurant in the capital to celebrate the anniversary, according to a press release.
The bank has opened 34 branches nationwide since launching operations, including four full-fledged Islamic banking branches offering Shariah-based services.
The new-generation lender said it has prioritised financing for the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises sector to support financial inclusion and economic activity.
The bank has also introduced modern digital banking services and secured a credit rating of AA-, it said.
Bengal Commercial Bank Chairman Md Jashim Uddin, who is also President of the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, thanked customers, partners and employees for their support since the bank’s launch.
“CMSME sector is one of the key drivers of the national economy, and the bank will continue supporting its sustainable development,” he said.
Bengal Commercial Bank Managing Director Tarik Morshed said ensuring regulatory compliance, improving customer service and promoting inclusive banking remain the bank’s core priorities.
Bengal Commercial Bank Vice Chairman Engr Ghulam Mohammed Alomgir attended the programme along with directors, additional managing directors, deputy managing directors, the corporate branch manager and other senior officials.
The event included a cake-cutting ceremony, prayer and an iftar gathering.
The bank also organised day-long programmes including doa and iftar events at its branches and sub-branches across the country to mark the anniversary.
