Bangladesh will host the Global Sourcing Expo 2025 Dhaka for the first time from 1 to 3 December to explore new export markets and reduce dependence on traditional destinations.
The event will be held at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Purbachal and is being organised by the EPB and the Ministry of Commerce.
A meet-the-press session was held at the EPB conference room on Thursday, where EPB Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif briefed the media on the expo’s objectives, preparation, foreign participation and export prospects.
EPB Director General Baby Rani Karmakar, EPB Director General Md Aktar Hossain Azad, directors and senior officials attended.
EPB said buyers, investors, importers, wholesalers and supply chain representatives from China, Japan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UAE, the US and other countries have confirmed participation.
The expo will highlight Bangladesh’s major export sectors including apparel, leather, home décor, information and communication technology (ICT), agricultural goods, plastics, pharmaceuticals, jute products and several emerging industries. It aims to showcase sector-specific capacity and attract new global buyers.
EPB Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif said Bangladesh must diversify its export destinations, noting that 44% of export earnings come from the European Union and 18% from the US market.
He said the expo is intended to help expand Bangladesh’s global reach.
Over the three days, the expo will host around 10 thematic seminars. A business-to-business (B2B) meeting zone will be set up next to each sector display to allow buyers to meet companies directly, which is expected to support export orders.
More than 150 stalls will be featured at the expo, and 116 institutions have already registered. A networking dinner will be held on 1 December for international buyers and participants with a fashion show highlighting Bangladesh’s apparel and textile sector.
The fair should continue as an ongoing initiative to expand export opportunities, said EPB Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Mohammad Hasan Arif.
