BAT Bangladesh, Sonali Bank, Brac Bank, Renata Pharmaceuticals, and Bureau Bangladesh have been awarded the prestigious “e-Return Champion Certificate” by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) for their contribution to implementing the government’s automation agenda, according to a statement by the company.
The awards were conferred on Thursday, at a ceremony held at Le Méridien, marking the issuance of half a million Certificates, Licenses, and Permits through the Bangladesh Single Window (BSW) system.
The BSW project, launched in 2017, provides an electronic online solution to facilitate faster and more transparent international trade procedures.
The system integrates 19 government departments under a single digital portal, combining the BSW software and the Advanced Risk Management System (ARMS). It reduces paperwork, minimizes processing time, and strengthens governance while advancing the government’s digitization agenda.
BAT Bangladesh adopted paperless operations soon after the system’s introduction, ensuring transparency and accountability by eliminating the need for personal or direct contact in government procedures.
The initiative has narrowed opportunities for harassment, corruption, and unethical transactions, while reducing time and costs in import and export operations.
In January 2025, the government announced that manually issued CLPs from seven state agencies would no longer be accepted for duty assessment and customs clearance, and submissions must now be made through the BSW system.
The awards recognise the largest taxpayers who have consistently supported progressive national initiatives and helped drive the country’s transition to digital governance.
