The BASIS Standing Committee on Access to Finance & New Investment held its inaugural meeting under the leadership of its Chairman Md Shafiqul Alam.
The committee’s Member-in-Charge Md Rowshan Kamal James, along with other distinguished committee members, attended the meeting, coordinated by Secretariat In-Charge Md Zulfiker Hayder.
The Committee decided to establish three working groups focused on enhancing BASIS members’ access to global financing, optimizing traditional financing models, and exploring innovative financing solutions for the Information and Communication Technology sector.
A structured framework will be developed to assess company maturity and align appropriate financing pathways.
The meeting underscored the importance of strengthening institutional linkages between financial institutions and BASIS members to ensure smoother access to finance at both domestic and international levels.
The Committee emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts with the Government, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, and Non-Resident Bangladeshis to unlock global funding and foster investment in local tech startups.
Key discussions included initiating dialogue with the Export Promotion Bureau and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority to translate priorities into actionable outcomes.
These initiatives aim to drive investment, boost private-sector growth, and enhance the long-term competitiveness of Bangladesh’s Information and Communication Technology ecosystem.
