Bangladesh U-18 boys’ kabaddi team carved their names into the history books by winning the bronze medal at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Isa Sports City, Bahrain. This marks Bangladesh’s second medal of the tournament, following the girls’ team’s earlier bronze win against Sri Lanka.

In their final match, Bangladesh delivered a commanding performance, thrashing hosts Bahrain 106–17 to secure third place among the seven participating teams in the kabaddi discipline. The Bangladesh team received strong support from Mohammad Rois Hasan Sarwar, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Bahrain, who attended the match to cheer for the players.

Bangladesh’s campaign began on a challenging note with a defeat to powerhouse India in the opening match. However, the young kabaddi stars bounced back brilliantly, defeating Iran and Sri Lanka in consecutive games to keep their medal hopes alive. Despite a narrow loss to Thailand that denied them a place in the final, Bangladesh finished strong with victories over Pakistan and Bahrain, ensuring a place on the podium.

This success is particularly significant as Bangladesh had failed to win any medals in the previous two editions of the Asian Youth Games. With both the boys’ and girls’ teams now earning bronze medals in kabaddi, Bangladesh has recorded its best-ever performance in the event’s history.
