Bangladesh kept an unchanged squad for the second Test against Pakistan, which starts in Sylhet on 16 May. The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed the decision in a press release during the fifth day of the opening Test in Mirpur.
The board also ruled out any venue change despite concerns over the weather forecast in Sylhet. Officials confirmed that the match will go ahead at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium as scheduled.
Bangladesh added Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Amit Hasan to the Test squad for the first time ahead of the series. Neither player made his debut in the opening Test, and selectors have kept faith with the same group for the final match of the series.
The batting unit produced mixed returns in Mirpur. Openers Shadman Islam and Mahmudul Hasan Joy struggled for consistency, but Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto carried Bangladesh’s middle order with important runs.
Bangladesh’s bowlers also played a major role in the first Test. Mehidy Hasan Miraz controlled long spells with spin, while Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed led the pace attack with regular breakthroughs.
