Bangladesh confirmed on Thursday in Dhaka that a six player squad will travel to Bahrain on Friday to compete in the Davis Cup Asia and Oceania Group Five event, which will be held in Isa Town from 17 to 23 November. The tournament is being organised by the Bahrain Tennis Federation and will feature men’s national teams from Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Laos, Macau, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Northern Mariana Islands, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
The Bangladesh Tennis Federation held a pre departure photo session at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna, where officials marked the team’s send off. The squad is scheduled to return to Dhaka on 24 November.
Bangladesh will be led by playing captain Tanvir Pasha of Gulshan Club. The travelling group also includes Zarif Abrar of Cantonment Officers Club, Jubin Omar of Gulshan Club, Mohammad Rustam Ali of American Club, Md Emon of Tennis Club Rajshahi and Jawad Mohammad Bhuiyan of Uttara Club.
The Bangladesh Tennis Federation said the delegation will depart on 15 November, with general secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Karen issuing the official confirmation.
