Atish Dipankar University of Science and Technology’s Textile Engineering Department, in collaboration with AJA Bangladesh Limited, organised a day-long workshop on “ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS)” at the university auditorium on Friday, according to a press release.

The workshop featured Trainer and Lead Auditor of AJA Bangladesh Limited Abu Fattah Md Isa as the resource person, who discussed global EMS standards, practical applications in industry, and the role of environmental management in promoting sustainable Ready-Made Garments (RMG) production.

He also provided students with practical guidance on implementing EMS to ensure global sustainability compliance.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jahangir Alam, the chief guest, emphasized the importance of practical EMS skills alongside academic knowledge.

“Acquiring hands-on expertise in environmental management is key to meeting future industrial challenges,” he said.

Board of Trustees Secretary Kamruzzaman Litu, and Chief Academic Advisor Professor Dr ABM Shahidul Islam highlighted how EMS knowledge enhances students’ professional competence, confidence, and competitiveness. Registrar Md Abdul Kaium Sardar also addressed the participants.

Textile Engineering Department Chairman Md Nur Nabi Raj, presiding over the closing ceremony, thanked the guests, trainers, and students.

He said, “Workshops like these pave the way for sustainable growth in the textile sector.

Knowledge and implementation of ISO 14001:2015 EMS is now a necessity for eco-friendly industrialization.”

Over 100 students received certificates, and guests were presented with mementos by AJA Bangladesh Limited.

The session was conducted by Textile Engineering Department Lecturer Sadman Shahriar Mallik.
