Dhallywood is going through a period of change, with new technology and modern approaches increasingly shaping local filmmaking.
Actress Apu Biswas believes these developments are bringing positive changes to the country’s film industry.
According to the actress, maintaining the quality of contemporary cinema requires complete dedication, technical expertise and professionalism, with no room for compromise.
Speaking in a recent interview about her latest projects and experiences, Apu praised the work of local technicians and technical crews and discussed the changing landscape of Bangladeshi cinema.
“Bangladesh has extremely talented technicians and technical professionals. Otherwise, we and the generations of artistes before and after us could not have reached where we are today,” Apu said.
“However, many things change with time. It is equally important to develop ourselves and stay updated according to the demands of the time.”
The actress also highlighted the growing professionalism among production teams.
“The teams working today are much more professional. By professionalism, I mean that whatever work they take on, they give it 100 per cent dedication without making any compromises,” she said.
According to Apu, filmmakers previously had to compromise on locations and other aspects of production because of various limitations.
She believes the new generation of teams is increasingly unwilling to make such compromises when a story demands a particular approach.
“Their unwavering focus proves how professional they are. This mindset is what we need most to take our cinema to an international standard,” she said.
Apu also spoke about her experience of working with local crews.
“Working with a homegrown team is always special. There is a certain warmth alongside the work,” she said.
After years in the industry, Apu believes her experience has given her the ability to assess different aspects of a production as a professional artiste.
“So, speaking from that experience, I genuinely feel that this new wave of change in our film industry is commendable,” she added.
