The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force (BDAVDF) has completed its final preparations for the Bogura-6 (Sadar) by-election and Sherpur-3 (Shreebordy-Jhinaigati) constituency elections. The force has established an integrated framework combining professionalism, impartiality, and technology-driven management. The preparations were outlined at a preparatory rally at the Jhinaigati Upazila Stadium in Sherpur, where Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of BDAVDF, delivered the keynote address.

For the elections, 1,704 BDAVDF members will be deployed at 128 voting centres in Sherpur-3, while 1,990 members will be assigned to 150 voting centres in Bogura Sadar. In total, 3,694 members will be responsible for the security across 278 voting centres. Each voting centre will have 13 members on duty, including one armed Ansar member tasked with securing the presiding officer.

In a move aimed at improving election security, two members at each voting centre will act as end-users for the ‘Election Security App‘. Additionally, eight striking teams have been formed, with 10 members from the Ansar battalion assigned to each team. These teams will patrol and respond to situations in real-time using the app.

The Director General highlighted the introduction of a technology-driven deployment system to ensure both modernity and transparency in the election process. Responsibilities have been allocated based on the skills and qualifications of registered, trained members through the AVMIS software, a system described as both timely and effective.

The Director General also addressed the transparency of member allowances, stating that the STDMS software will verify bank accounts and directly disburse payments. This will enhance accountability and trust in the financial management system.

“A fair and impartial election is a significant trust bestowed upon us by the people of the country,” said Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud. “No negligence or indifference will be tolerated in fulfilling this responsibility. We must maintain public trust by performing our duties with integrity, dedication, and professionalism.”

In addition to election duties, BDAVDF is focused on improving the living standards of its members. The ‘Sanjibone’ project has been launched as a pilot programme at the upazila level, aimed at creating small-scale entrepreneurs in sectors like agriculture, fisheries, and livestock farming. This initiative is intended to provide sustainable livelihoods for the members.

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force remain committed to ensuring a credible election through the coordination of members’ integrity, impartiality, and responsibility. By applying modern technology and maintaining a professional approach, the force is dedicated to ensuring a safe and trustworthy electoral environment.
