Angelina Jolie has secured a legal victory in an ongoing dispute with actor Brad Pitt over their shared French winery Château Miraval, following a ruling by a Los Angeles Superior court.
The judge ruled that Jolie will not be required to hand over private emails related to the 2021 sale of her stake in the winery.
The court further found that Pitt’s team had not provided sufficient grounds to override claims of legal privilege attached to the communications. The motion was denied without prejudice, meaning it could be revisited but has currently been rejected.
The dispute centres on Jolie’s decision to sell her share of Château Miraval. Pitt’s legal team had argued that certain emails exchanged with her business and legal advisers were not protected and should be disclosed.
Jolie maintained that the communications formed part of legal strategy and were therefore covered by attorney-client privilege, a position the court accepted in this ruling.
The case has seen multiple developments over time. A previous ruling in December 2025 had ordered Jolie to share the emails, but that decision was later challenged and sent back for review.
In October 2025, Pitt’s team had also submitted communications as part of evidence concerning the sale agreement.
Following the latest ruling, Jolie’s legal representatives described the outcome as a significant victory, arguing that the court had rejected what they called an overreach by Pitt’s legal team. They also said repeated attempts to obtain privileged communications were inappropriate.
The Château Miraval dispute stems from the former couple’s relationship, after they met while filming ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ in 2005 and later married in 2014 at the French estate.
Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, with the divorce finalised in 2024, although legal disputes over the winery continued.
Pitt filed a lawsuit in 2022, alleging that Jolie sold her stake without mutual approval as previously agreed, leading to the ongoing legal conflict.
