Allegations that Shakib Khan’s films draw heavily from Bollywood are nothing new. Now, Kolkata-based media outlet Anandabazar Patrika has claimed that Shakib’s upcoming film ‘Soldier’, currently in production, is a copy of a Shah Rukh Khan movie.
According to the report, Shakib Khan has long been admired as ‘King Khan’ by Bangladeshi fans, while Indian superstar Shah Rukh Khan has held the same nickname for nearly three decades.
The media outlet further suggests that Shakib has taken inspiration from Shah Rukh’s films for his latest project.
Anandabazar alleges that the script of Soldier is strikingly similar to Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’. The resemblance is said to extend not just to the hero, but also to the two leading ladies; in Shah Rukh’s film, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, and in Shakib’s, Tanjin Tisha and Oishee.
A source cited in the report claims that Tanjin Tisha’s character closely mirrors Anushka Sharma’s role as Akira.
Soldier is described as an action-drama in which Shakib Khan plays a patriotic hero fighting corruption and syndicates. Produced by Sun Music and Motion Pictures, the film is reportedly slated for release in December this year.
