Akhter Hossen, National Citizen Party (NCP) member secretary and candidate for the Rangpur-4 (Kaunia and Pirgachha) constituency, cast his vote on Thursday.
He voted at Bhayerhat Girls High School polling centre in Tepamodhupur union at 7:30am, accompanied by his mother Rokeya Begum.
Speaking to journalists, Akhter raised concerns regarding the role of the local authorities during the national election.
He said, “We are noticing the weakness of the administration. False rumours have been spread against us. Various types of threats have been made. All in all, it seems to us that the administration is operating very weakly so far.”
He further remarked that if this administrative weakness persists throughout the day, it will create a sense of apprehension regarding the final election results.
