Rajshahi secured a four-wicket win over Rangpur in the National Cricket League on 4 October 2025, with Shakir Hossain Shuvo’s unbeaten fifty and a cameo of 27 from Nihaduzzaman guiding the side home. Abu Hasim’s brilliant bowling, which included four wickets for seven runs, was not enough to prevent the defeat.
After losing the toss, Rangpur were sent in to bat and quickly found themselves in trouble, losing three wickets for just 12 runs. Mehrab Hasan dismissed Zahid Javed and Nasir Hossain in the second over, while Anik Sarkar fell on the first ball of the next over to Taijul Islam. Iqbal Hossain fought back with a patient 50 off 45 balls, supported briefly by Akbar Ali, who scored 28 from 20 deliveries. Naeem Islam contributed 20 from 15 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup collapsed, and Rangpur were all out for 143. Sabbir Hossain took three wickets for Rajshahi, while Asaduzzaman Payel and Mehrab Hasan claimed two each.
Chasing 144, Rangpur struck early, reducing Rajshahi to 29 for five. Abu Hasim was exceptional, dismissing Hasib Mizanur Rahman, Habibur Rahman Sohan, Pritom Kumar, and Mehrab Hasan, with two of the wickets LBW and one bowled. At five down, Rajshahi stabilised with a crucial sixth-wicket partnership.
Sabbir Rahman (35 from 35 balls) and Shakir Hossain Shuvo (52* from 42 balls) added 74 runs together. Nihaduzzaman contributed an unbeaten 27 from 14 balls, including two fours and two sixes, to steer Rajshahi to victory with two balls remaining.
This is Rajshahi’s second win of the season, earning them five points from six matches and placing them fifth on the points table. Rangpur also have five points but are positioned below Rajshahi in fourth, while Dhaka Division leads with eight points.
