BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Tuesday cautioned against possible subversive activities during Durga Puja and called for national unity to resist “evil forces.”

“There are plots and conspiracies, but together beyond religion and community, we will resist them. The people of this country have always broken the webs of conspiracies, and this time too the evil forces will not succeed,” Rizvi said after visiting the Puja mandap at Dhaka University’s Jagannath Hall, reports UNB.

He alleged that a defeated force had attempted to stage subversive acts around Puja this year as in the past, but those efforts had already failed.

Rizvi added that conspiracies still exist both inside and outside the country, with attempts to spread misinformation and false propaganda. “But it is the sense of solidarity and the bonds of harmony among our people that continue to defeat these conspiracies,” he said.

Rizvi noted that despite such plots, this year’s Puja is being celebrated in a festive spirit nationwide. “Puja is not only a religious festival, it is also a symbol of Bangladesh’s centuries-old communal harmony,” he said, urging the government to guarantee the rights and safety of all communities.

“State security must be foolproof so that no provocation or evil attempt can succeed.”

Later in the day, while speaking to a delegation from the Association of Engineers Bangladesh (AEB) at the BNP’s Nayapaltan office, Rizvi claimed that both domestic and foreign conspiracies are being hatched, with the Zia family and nationalist forces as the prime targets.

He warned that attempts were underway to disturb communal harmony and create unrest in different parts of the country, and urged pro-democracy political parties and citizens to remain alert.

Rizvi further accused the ruling authorities of “playing games with the election process” and said the country’s youth, deprived of their voting rights for over a decade, would not forgive any effort to disrupt the upcoming national polls.
