Bangladesh have remained in 184th place in the latest FIFA men’s world rankings, published on Thursday, showing no movement since the previous update in July.
The men’s team, led by Jamal Bhuyan and Hamza Choudhury, had been scheduled to play two matches against Nepal during the September FIFA window. However, due to the situation in Kathmandu, they managed only one fixture, which ended in a goalless draw. As a result, neither side moved in the standings, with Nepal staying 176th.
Looking ahead, Bangladesh will face Hong Kong twice in the Asian Cup qualifiers during the October window. FIFA will release the next update of the rankings on 23 October.
The women’s side, however, have been making headlines. In August, Rituparna Chakma and her teammates jumped 24 places, the highest leap in the latest FIFA women’s rankings, climbing from 128th to 104th following their historic qualification for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
At the top of the men’s rankings, Spain have risen to first place, followed by France in second. World Cup winners Argentina have dropped to third.
