The government is set to fully digitise the security clearance process for foreign investors and expatriates by mid-September using the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority’s (BIDA) One Stop Service (OSS) portal.
This announcement was made during an inter-agency meeting at BIDA headquarters, chaired by BIDA Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun. The move is expected to enhance transparency, efficiency, and predictability in issuing work permits and visas for foreign nationals.
Harun described the initiative as a major reform, praising the swift cooperation among relevant agencies. He also revealed plans for further reforms to work permit and visa services by December 2025.
To streamline the process, documentation requirements will be simplified, and if security inspection is not completed within 21 working days of application submission, the visa will be extended without objection.
Additionally, BIDA plans to establish an inter-agency database to facilitate data sharing and improve coordination across relevant authorities.
The initiative aims to foster a more efficient and business-friendly environment for foreign investors in Bangladesh.
