The terminated employees of Al Arafah Islami Bank have placed a seven-point demand before the bank authorities, protesting what they called “inhumane and unjust” dismissals and urging immediate reinstatement.

At a press conference held at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday morning, the protesters alleged that the mass termination was carried out on false grounds and that no clear justification had been provided.

They claimed that senior bank officials had earlier assured them of resolving the issue, but no action has been taken so far. The terminated employees had previously staged a demonstration in front of the bank’s head office on July 28, demanding justice and reinstatement.

“We have submitted a seven-point list of demands to the bank authorities. This mass dismissal is inhumane and without due process,” one of the speakers at the press conference said.

When asked how long the protest would continue, the demonstrators stated that their sit-in would persist until the bank authorities meet their demands.

Earlier, on July 20, a total of 547 permanent and temporary staff members were dismissed from Al Arafah Islami Bank, triggering widespread protests by the affected employees.
