Adviser to the Ministry of Shipping, Labor and Employment Brigadier General M Sakhawat Hossain has called for reconsidering combat aircraft training locations following the crash of an Air Force jet during a training mission at Milestone School in Uttara.
While visiting victims at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute on Tuesday, the adviser stated: “Densely populated areas like Dhaka city are unsuitable for combat jet training. All relevant agencies and the Defense Ministry must reassess where and how such training should be conducted to prevent future tragedies.”
Regarding potential crash causes, he explained: “Aircraft can crash due to multiple factors, primarily pilot error or technical issues. While this was an older training jet, to my knowledge, its internal components received regular updates.”
He cautioned against speculation before black box analysis determines whether technical failure or human error caused the accident.
The retired brigadier mourned the pilot’s death as “deeply tragic” but stressed: “There’s no room for conjecture. We expect the investigation will soon reveal the truth.”
