The Detective Branch (DB) of police have arrested three former union parishad chairmen of Gopalganj in connection with political cases.
They were arrested from Dhaka’s Motijheel area on Thursday afternoon and brought to Gopalganj later in the night. The arrestees who face several criminal cases, were sent to jail by a court on Friday morning.
The arrestees are former Borashi Union Parishad chairman and activities banned union Awami League general secretary MM Monir Ahmed (Noni), former Gopinathpur Union Parishad chairman and union Krishak League president Sharif Aminul Haque Lachu, and former Jalalabad Union Parishad chairman and union Awami League president M Suparul Alam.
A special team from the Gopalganj Detective Branch (DB), acting on intelligence and in cooperation with Motijheel Police Station, arrested them during a drive. before a court sent them to jail on Friday.
