Singer Kanika Kapoor has confirmed the end of her four-year marriage to businessman Gautam Hathiramani, saying the decision has brought its own share of grief and disappointment, writes Times of India.

The ‘Baby Doll’ singer announced their separation through an Instagram story on Tuesday, asking friends, family and followers to respect their privacy as they move forward.

The announcement came a day after she removed photographs from their wedding from her social media accounts.

Kanika, 48, married Gautam in an intimate ceremony in London in May 2022. In her statement, she said the couple had decided to part ways after careful consideration.

She also expressed gratitude for their time together and wished him well.

In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Kanika addressed speculation surrounding the split. She denied that either of them had found another partner and rejected reports that she had refused to relocate to Lagos, where Gautam works.

Some of Gautam’s friends had reportedly attributed their differences to Kanika’s frequent travel for live performances and demanding professional commitments, which they said affected his work in Lagos.

Responding to the claims, Kanika said it was unfair to blame the woman whenever a marriage breaks down. She stressed that only the two people involved know what happens within a relationship.

“This is my second time for a divorce and that brings its own grief and disappointment,” she said, adding that she has three children to look after. She also expressed hope that she and Gautam would maintain an amicable relationship.

The couple reportedly knew each other for nearly 15 years before marrying. Kanika is said to have proposed to Gautam in 2014 and again in 2020, before he proposed in 2021.

They married the following year, with her three children joining the family celebrations.

This was Kanika’s second marriage. She previously married London-based doctor Raj Chandok in 1998. They have three children together: daughters Aayana and Samara, and son Yuvraaj. The couple divorced in 2012, after which Kanika moved to India.

On the musical front, Kanika first gained attention with ‘Jugni Ji’ in 2012. Her breakthrough came in 2014 with ‘Baby Doll’ from ‘Ragini MMS 2’ and ‘Chittiyan Kalaiyaan’ from ‘Roy’. Other popular tracks include ‘Tukur Tukur’ from Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dilwale’ and the Hindi version of ‘Oo Antava’ from ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. Her recent releases include ‘Gori Hai Kaliyaan’ from the 2025 film ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’.
