Supermodel Heidi Klum once again pushed the boundaries of Halloween fashion, arriving at her annual New York party dressed as a giant, bloodied severed hand.

According to Associated Press, the elaborate costume marked the 25th anniversary of her much-anticipated Halloween celebration, held on Saturday, 31 October, at Cathédrale Restaurant in Manhattan’s East Village.

Klum was almost unrecognisable beneath the elaborate prosthetics, with only her eyes and mouth visible.

Fake blood streamed from her mouth, while the top of the oversized hand featured dangling ligaments and tendons. A group of assistants in blood-stained hazmat suits accompanied her.

The idea came to Klum last year. She wanted to recreate her own left hand, complete with long red nails, a thumb ring, her engagement ring and wedding band.

“I looked at my hand and I thought, ‘Hey, I think I could fit my body in this somehow,’” she said.

It took around five to six hours to put on the costume, although its creation required considerably more time. Klum said carrying it was particularly challenging because of its weight.

Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, could not attend the party as he was on tour. However, she included personal details in the costume, including a tattoo of his name on the ring finger, along with the lines and veins of her palm.

“A little bit of Tom is with me,” she said.

Klum has built a reputation for her elaborate Halloween transformations. In 2022, she went viral after arriving as a giant worm suspended from a fishing line. Her previous costumes have included Medusa, a peacock, a towering Transformer, a werewolf inspired by Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ video, a group of her own lookalikes and the Hindu goddess Kali.

The annual event has become a major fixture on the Halloween calendar, with celebrities and guests gathering each year to see what costume Klum will unveil.
