A three-year-old child, Abdullah Al Zayed, died after being run over by a Pajero Sports vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Education, inside the Paikpara New C-Type Government Quarters in the capital’s Mirpur-1 area.
The accident occurred in front of Building No 136 on last Thursday afternoon.

Police said that after having lunch, the driver ran over the child whilst turning the vehicle to depart for duty.
He admitted that the accident happened due to carelessness. He was sent to court on Saturday in a case filed under the Road Transport Act, and the court ordered him to be sent to jail.
On Saturday night, Anwar Hossain, sub-inspector of Darussalam Police Station, told Times of Bangladesh that an investigation is underway to determine to whom the vehicle was allocated and who was using it.
He added that since the driver admitted to acting carelessly, the court ordered sending him to jail, and an application for his police remand will be made later if any new information or involvement comes to light during the investigation.
