A man was killed in a road accident at Janapath Mor in the capital’s Sayedabad area on early Friday.
The deceased was identified as Aryan, 27, from Ramgarh village in Bauphal upazila of Patuakhali district. He was the son of Abdul Kader Bhuiyan and lived in the Mir Hazirbagh area of Jatrabari.
His brother-in-law, Sohag Mia, said he sold shoes on the footpath in Gulistan. He usually returned home by 11pm, but when he had not returned by 3am, Sohag went to Gulistan to search for him.
After failing to find Aryan there, Sohag noticed a crowd gathered in front of Malancha Community Centre at Sayedabad Janapad Mode while returning home. He went closer and found Aryan lying in blood on the road.
Sohag immediately took him to the DMCH emergency department around 5am, where the doctor declared him dead. It is suspected that an unidentified vehicle hit him.
Inspector Md Habibur Rahman, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, said doctors had kept the body in the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Jatrabari Police Station is investigating the incident.
