A garment worker was killed and two others were injured when a septic tank exploded at an under-construction building in the Naojor area of Gazipur on Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 7:15am on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sakib, a resident of Bauphal upazila in Patuakhali, who worked at a local garment factory.
Rajib Hossain, warehouse inspector at Gazipur Chourasta Modern Fire Service, said two rooms had been built above a septic tank on the ground floor of a three-storey building under construction. The rooms were rented out to garment workers. Sakib shared one of them with two other workers.
The septic tank suddenly exploded in the morning, damaging the room’s doors and windows. Sakib died on the spot, while his two co-workers were injured in the blast.
Basan Police Station OC Harun Or Rashid also confirmed the incident. He said that the victim’s body had been sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
