Students at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (Cuet) have called upon their teachers to ensure an environment for resuming academic activities by resolving the ongoing deadlock.

At the same time, the students announced that they will continue their movement centered on a single-point demand for the reinstatement of former vice-chancellor Professor Abu Sadat Muhammad Sayem.

This appeal was conveyed in an open letter on Sunday.

In the letter titled “Open letter from Cuet students to teachers,” the students stated that their academic life is constantly lagging behind owing to the prolonged protest and stalemate.

They expressed their desire to return to classes and resume regular academic operations, urging teachers to play an effective role in this regard.

The students explicitly clarified in the letter that their desire to return to class does not signify stepping back from the movement.

They emphasized that the single-point demand of this combined movement of teachers, officers, staff, and students is the reinstatement of Professor Sayem to the post of vice-chancellor, confirming that the movement will continue until this demand is met.

They outlined their stance regarding the campus entry of the new vice-chancellor.

They warned in the letter that if the vice-chancellor appointed online enters the campus, students will launch strict protests once again, adding that they will remain united to realise their logical demands.
