Bangladeshi actor Chiranjit Biswas has won the Best Male Actor award at the 21st Tasveer Film Festival in Seattle, United States, for his performance in the film ‘Delupi’.

Director Mohammad Touqir Islam attended the festival and accepted the award on Biswas’s behalf at the closing ceremony on 18 October.

The Seattle-based Tasveer Film Festival is recognised as an Oscar-qualifying South Asian film festival. ‘Delupi’ was the only Bangladeshi film in this year’s line-up, bringing further international attention to the country’s cinema.

Released in Bangladeshi cinemas in 2025, the film has since travelled to several international festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Karawan Film Fest in Italy.

‘Delupi’ is also scheduled to compete in the main competition sections of the 39th Virginia Film Festival in the United States and the London Bridge Film Festival in the United Kingdom on 24 October.

Biswas’s win adds another international accolade to the film’s journey and highlights the growing reach of Bangladeshi cinema on the global festival circuit.
