Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer and key art for The Greatest, the first authorised scripted series chronicling the life of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The series will premiere all its episodes on 4 November, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories.
According to Variety, the series follows Ali’s transformation from Cassius Clay, a young man from Louisville, Kentucky, into a global sporting icon. The trailer explores the personal, professional and political battles he faced inside and outside the boxing ring, set against the backdrop of a changing America.
Newcomer Jaalen Best plays Cassius Clay, who later became known as Muhammad Ali. The supporting cast includes Omari Hardwick as Cassius Clay Sr, Dana Gourrier as Odessa “Bird” Clay, Kai Parham as Rudy Clay, Amin Joseph as Sonny Liston, Giovanni Ribisi as Angelo Dundee and Michael Ealy as Malcolm X.
Ben Watkins created The Greatest and serves as its showrunner and an executive producer. Ali’s wife, Lonnie Ali, also serves as an executive producer, giving the project an authorised connection to the boxer’s life story.
The production brings together Watkins’ Blue Monday Productions, Michael B Jordan’s Outlier Society, Authentic Studios, Roc Nation, Polygram Entertainment and Grace: A Storytelling Company.
Other executive producers include Outlier Society president Elizabeth Raposo, Authentic Brands Group executives Corey Salter, Matthew Gross and Marc Rosen, and Roc Nation’s Desiree Perez, alongside other collaborators.
Through Ali’s evolution from a boxing champion into a prominent public figure, The Greatest aims to explore the convictions and experiences that shaped his enduring legacy beyond the sport. The series looks beyond his achievements in the ring to examine the personal and political challenges that helped define his life.
