A two-storey tin-shed residential house and a fertiliser godown were gutted in a fire originating from a gas stove in the Mithamoin upazila sadar of Kishoreganj district on Tuesday noon, causing an estimated damage of Tk1.20 crore.
The incident occurred at around 12pm in the Girispur area under Mithamoin upazila sadar.

Upon receiving the news, six units of the Fire Service from Mithamoin, Ashtagram, and Itna arrived at the scene to extinguish the flames. The fire was brought under control at 2:25 pm after nearly two hours of effort led by Mithamoin Fire Service Station Leader Rustam Ali.
According to Mithamoin Fire Service Station Leadingman Tanveer Hasan, initial reports indicate that the fire broke out from a gas stove whilst cooking. The affected structure was a two-storey tin-shed building comprising a total of 15 rooms, which housed both the residential quarters and the fertiliser godown.
Although property worth approximately Tk1.20 crore was destroyed in the blaze, timely action by the Fire Service personnel saved goods valued at around Tk10 crore.
