Dutch-Bangla Bank (DBBL) PLC has signed two participation agreements with Bangladesh Bank (BB) to provide low-cost credit facilities to its clients under refinance schemes for green factory building, green industries and ICT sector development.
The agreements were signed with the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank to access funds under the “Refinance Scheme for Green Factory Building & Green Industries” and the “Refinance Scheme for the Development of ICT Sector”, Dutch-Bangla Bank said in a press release.
A K M Nurunnabi, Director of the Sustainable Finance Department of Bangladesh Bank, and Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Dutch-Bangla Bank, signed the agreements on behalf of their respective organisations. Senior officials from both institutions were present at the signing ceremony.
The refinance scheme for green factory building and green industries aims to encourage the construction of environmentally friendly factories and buildings. The initiative is expected to enhance export competitiveness by attracting reputed buyers and help reduce environmental pollution.
A total revolving fund of Tk1,000 crore has been allocated under the scheme, with an individual borrower eligible for a maximum loan of Tk100 crore at a 5 per cent interest rate.
The refinance scheme for ICT sector development aims to support entrepreneurs engaged in the ICT sector and its sub-sectors, which have been prioritised in the government’s development plans.
Products and services produced in Bangladesh Hi-Tech Parks and Software Technology Parks, along with women entrepreneurs in the ICT sector, will receive priority under the scheme.
The ICT refinance scheme also has a revolving fund allocation of Tk1,000 crore, with individual borrowers eligible for loans of up to Tk50 crore at a 4 per cent interest rate.
