Standard Chartered Bangladesh (SCB) has recently partnered with icddr,b to donate and distribute 80 high-capacity oxygen concentrators to rural healthcare facilities in Dhaka, Sylhet, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions, addressing critical oxygen shortages in marginal areas.

The initiative aims to address secondary respiratory complications, particularly among infants and young children aged 6 to 24 months, said a press release on Thursday.
icddr,b will oversee the distribution, installation and post-deployment management of the oxygen concentrators to ensure long-term operational sustainability.

SCB CEO Enamul Huque said the partnership supports rural healthcare facilities with essential equipment to strengthen their capacity to provide oxygen support when needed.
icddr,b Executive Director Tahmeed Ahmed said the donation addresses insufficient oxygen supply infrastructure in many private and NGO-run hospitals and increased patient demand among vulnerable groups.

The bank previously supported installation of oxygen plants at Kumudini Hospital, MA Rashid Hospital in Jamalpur, TMSS Medical College, Rafatullah Community Hospital, and Chattogram Maa-Shishu O General Hospital.
